Yogurt eaters have measurably lower phthalate levels
A study of 8,000 people found regular yogurt eaters had measurably lower levels of phthalate markers in their urine compared to non-consumers. The bacteria physically bind to plastic particles in your gut and carry them out.
Separate animal research found that a specific strain of lactic acid bacteria found in yogurt boosted microplastic excretion by 34% and cut residual gut plastic by 67%.
The more live cultures present, the more binding activity occurs.
